Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party and Premier of Ontario
Kathleen Wynne is Ontario’s 25th Premier. Since taking office in 2013, she has been focused on growing Ontario’s economy and creating jobs by investing in infrastructure, building a low-carbon economy, and expanding access to high-quality college and university education. Prior to becoming Premier, she served as Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs, Minister of Transportation and Minister of Education. Premier Wynne was first elected to the Ontario legislature in 2003 as the MPP for Don Valley West. She was re-elected in 2007, 2011 and 2014. She became the leader of the Ontario Liberal Party in January 2013. Before becoming an MPP, Premier Wynne served as a trustee with the Toronto District School Board. Prior to that, she led citizens’ groups in a number of grassroots community projects and played a major role as an organizer and facilitator.
